The Friends of Cedarmere are dedicated to preserving the legacy of William Cullen Bryant and his beloved estate, Cedarmere.
We are a volunteer, non-profit charitable organization which aims to promote, encourage and actively assist in the preservation, restoration and maintenance of Cedarmere’s historic gardens, the main house, and outbuildings. The estate is on the National Register of Historic Places and the New York State Underground Heritage Trail.
Cedarmere is located in the Village of Roslyn Harbor on Long Island, N.Y., with scenic views of Hempstead Harbor. Click on Directions tab above.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to preserve and promote public enjoyment of the Cedarmere estate, and to preserve and interpret the history and life of William Cullen Bryant. We do this by exploring his legacy as a poet, journalist, publisher, civic activist and influential 19th century leader, while also grappling with complex ideas from historical and modern perspectives.
