Saturday, April 22, 2017 – A ceremony took place at Cedarmere to dedicate and unveil a historic marker near the entrance to Cedarmere. The sign was presented by Chris Vaccaro, the current President of the Press Club of Long Island, as an acknowledgment and tribute of and to the significant contributions made by William Cullen Bryant during his fifty years as the part owner and Editor of the New York Evening Post, the leading newspaper in New York City and environs. The speakers at the event were, Chris Vaccaro, Howard Kroplick, Town Historian of the Town of North Hempstead, and John B. Dawson, Jr., President of the Friends of Cedarmere, Inc.
